Jean de Florette, dir. Claude Berri, 1986
I picked this film randomly from some list, but it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. With an all-star cast including Yves Montand, Gérard Depardieu and Daniel Auteuil the film is a French version of "There will be blood" (or the other way around), and it proves that the ills of the capitalist system are universal. But those are the little details that make it so good. Everyone who has ever tried growing vegetables on their dacha will enjoy.

Я смотрел этот фильм и он мне тоже понравился. Есть вторая серия "Manon of the Spring", правда, на мой вкус, она заметно хуже.
