Before the devil knows you're dead

This is an excellent new film by Sidney Lumet. Unfortunately it only screens at Coolidge corner, Davis square and somewhere in Newton but it is worth making an effort for. The story is somewhat of a New York City variant of a Greek tragedy. It is not dealing with petty stuff but with life and death, if not life after death. The acting is superb, too.

Two action and adventure movies

Italian Job

The Usual Suspects

American Gangster

Hi All

I have to say that I've read many not-so-warm reviews in the press. However, I'd still strongly recommend it based on what I felt. My usual problem with gangster movies is their fairytale-ness, so to speak. This one is different. It is based on a true story, and it looks like a true story. The acting is also very good. I'd go watch it based on this, and not on whichever important things it tried but apparently failed to say about America.
