Went this past weekend after learning about this festival from the article in New Yorker.Very nice low key place for chamber music lovers. Not a mob scene as Tangelwood became lately. The program was interesting and well selected. One interesting surprise was the collection of songs by Robert Cuckson("Der Gayst Funem Shturem”)- contemporary composer, he was there, in the audience. The songs were perform in yiddish on the lyrics of the Israeli poet, I forgot his name, great singing and music, very emotional. Next day we went to the first part of the day performance. Schoenberg - String Quartet No. 2, Op. 10 was very interesting as well. We stayed in a very nice inn not far from Marlboro itself and went on good hike in the morning, a little muddy and slippery, though. One sad thing, very few young and even middle age people in the audience(but who are we to complain!), young faces it seems only of musicians and their relatives. Is that because very few young or middle age people can afford it, or because few interested?
