"First man" D. Chazelle (2018)
I watched this film on an airplane, and the moon landing coincided with the plane landing for increased dramatic effect. But coincidences aside, this is a surprisingly good film, with the protagonist (not the actor but the character he played) reminding me of some of the better people I encountered in America. I guess if “There will be blood” is about bad Americans, “First man” is about a good one. Granted, this kind of person would not be everyone’s favorite, but he is the American dream, embodying one and fulfilling the collective dream at the same time. Whether people like him are still around in the States or anywhere in the world, is anyone's guess. Just like whether we’d be able to pull off anything like the Moon landing ever again.
