Join us for an intimate discussion with Erik Larson, author of In the
Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin, and
to view rarely seen archival footage from the Museum’s collections, filmed
by Americans living and vacationing in Germany and its neighboring
countries in the 1930s. The evening will invite reflection not only on
what was known, but also on what actions might have been taken to stop
Germany’s domination of Europe and, ultimately, the Holocaust
