It is a very contraversial issue maybe even with some political consequences. Si Kaddour Ben Ghabrit, a founder and rector of Grand Mosque of Paris, did really give refuge to a number of jews. It is not clear if these jews actually survived - because of their smoking (which is prohibited for muslims), they were found by germans and had to run from the Mosque via sewer. Minuteman libs have book "Among the righteous" which discuss' issue of "Arabs saved some Jews" more deeply. PBS made a dvd for the book and before, after or instead of the movie you may watch this dvd here: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/among-the-righteous/ BTW, the King of Morroco (a friend of Si Kaddour Ben Ghabrit) is a candidate for title of "Righteous Among the Nations" since 2007 (!).
